well NO FUCKING WONDER Correndel sucks ass if this is the quality of his priests
… The elves best at arranging things are an overgrown child-species. Egad.
Makes perfect sense to me.
Considering everything we’ve seen about Keilia and the previous elves we saw so far.
Also I’d say that they are the ones in a position to arrange things, not the best at doing so. Obviously.
Iirc, Yunn mentioned high elves are supposed to be good at organizing.
As much as I love the comedic value of Yunn’s deadpan stare in the last panel and “how terrible” the high elves are… with the world lore we have, I can see another way this “terrible” situation could have come about. This was a random direction my mind went, but it felt fun so I’m writing it here
We’ve had several references to the world “extrapolating” content: Kaylin’s written bio becomes actual world backstory with existing characters and settings, Humanity’s perspectives on gender relations being influenced by prior in-game iconography (whereas monsters not being so affected), etc. It’s not uncommon in game settings for various god worship to be heavily focused on asking for things, especially when religious settings/temples/infrastructure are used for player empowerment. I could easily see a high elf town in the game having been used for some kind of sun/light based priest or magic class, with lots of iconography and settings revolving around players and support NPCs basically begging for favor, possibly in exchange for quests. And when Ellisia ‘extrapolated’ the world into extra detail, it could easily have turned into just needy high elves
It doesnt excuse their current selves, but if they had history of this WORKING then they’d keep doing it. I dunno, feels like a fun way to look at things – looking for more signs of how everything shifted.
“Are you implying Correndel is a poor communicator?”
“No, I’m saying he is a horrible communicator.”
And then we find out the high elves version of prayer and serving their god is more like a bunch of kids nagging their parent. No wonder Correndel feels so annoyed dealing with them.
I know Lyrestra hates, or at the very least justifiably is very angry at Correndel, but I feel like he *really* could use some damn help and guidance upstairs in doing his job and managing his followers if she is willing to give it.
Yeah. That’s prayer, to most people. Oh, and in the first panel, the plural of god is gods.
work harder not smarter, that’s what they did
That face in the last panel! Hahahahahahaha!
All I can see for what would be the next panel is, boot to the head.
…And another for Jenny and the wimp.
That face speaks volumes
Ahem. Panel 1, should read GODS. No apostrophe before plural S.
I’ve always enjoyed this interpretation of gods. They’re just people; powerful and important, but ultimately just a fallible as anyone else, and worshiping them is more of a business agreement or sponsorship program than a way of life.
And just like with people there will always be some who just aren’t very good at their job. Correndel was put into a leadership position that he was not qualified for, and now everyone in the vicinity has to deal with the consequences.
That expression…
“I can’t murder them all. I can’t murder them all. I can’t murder them all…”
“Well, maybe one…” XD
“I can’t murder the one who has to pass on Correndel’s message before that message goes out.”
