Strict combat rules meant to allow player vs player combat that is balanced by rules and unbalanced by character/Archetype selection, vs freedom of movement open world combat meant for multiplayer PvE and PvP both duels and even group battles. On the plus side, one hit KOs are frowned upon in fighting games so attacks that do tons of damage aren’t really an issue, yet they can destroy backgrounds and inanimate objects really easily.

“one hit ko’s are frowned upon” by who? =P Only joking… tho i did used to play r.mika and i landed the one hit Ko twice on ranked.
one hit ko attacks do exist in some fighters, Ark Sys and its guilty gear and Blazblue games mostly had one hit Ko Instant Kill moves just bringing it up cause the Slime guy kinda reminds me of Arakune from Blazblue
Do a Grapple Move get him out the corner!
